Leadership Team Post

I’ve been attending EYMC since 6th grade. This year will by my 10th year coming to camp. I am now a member of the leadership team, which is a group of 18-20 year olds who want to learn how to build leadership skills and grow as individuals.

As an LT, I work with the campers and camp staff to provide energy and fun throughout the week. Anything from playing in the band/orchestra to doing ridiculously hilarious dances at morning worship. LT brings many different challenges to my personal table. God brings me through all of these challenges and beyond.

My experiences as an LT member have taught me way more than I could ever write down in a timely fashion so I will talk about the main lesson I got out of LT: Creativity.

I like to think of myself as an inherently creative person, but the daily regimen of caring for campers emotional and spiritual needs opened my eyes to how many different kinds of people exist in this world.

No day is ever the same, just like no camper is the same. Each guitar lesson I teach, or each campfire I lead, I take away something very special. I can love and respect each type of human being.

The end of my LT career is after this week (I am 21), and that brings sadness to my heart. I know, however, that the lessons I’ve learned from campers and staff alike will guide me through ANYTHING thrown my way, and I have grown so much in so many ways. I can’t wait to see how this community grows and adapts to the world around it.

Thursday's pictures

Thursday's pictures (and some from Friday) are now uploading to the photo album.

Music Camp Museum

Creative Expressions campers had a lot of fun putting together a Music Camp Museum. We found objects from camp that represented things we love: a recorder for music, firewood for campfire, and even an empty pop can for canteen.

We have had fun playing creative games, doing projects, and hanging out.

Friday

It is Friday!

All of the singing and playing are coming together into our big performance.  I am sitting here in the back room listening to one of the choral sections singing about 'talkin to Jesus'.

The performance is at 1 pm Saturday...  Come to camp and be in the audience.  If you do, we ask that you don't arrive much before 1 as we are busy wrapping things up and getting ready.

PS: As the schedule is changing, there will be fewer chances to get to the computer so pictures and posts will be delayed.

Ga-Ga

Wikipedia says:
Ga-ga (lit. "touch-touch") is a variant of dodgeball. The game combines dodging, striking, running and jumping with the object of hitting opponents with a ball below the knee while avoiding being hit. The game can be played by groups of individual players, teams and in one-on-one matches. The game may sometimes be referred to as "Israeli dodge-ball". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga-ga

This has been a very popular pastime for all the campers while waiting for instruction on the stage, waiting for morning chapel, free time, and any other time it can be done.

Wednesday pictures

Just finished preparing pictures from Wednesday.  Over 480 pictures are now uploading to the photo album and should be available in an hour or so if all goes well.

It is fun to both relive the experience and see what else is going on.
